Mayor Jasiel Correia’s attorney, Kevin Reddington, was in court today to question the list of individuals with which the mayor is not allowed contact as a condition of his bail related to his federal indictment.
During the hearing in US District Court in Boston, Reddington had questions about the mayor’s contact with two or three people of the 27 individuals on the no-contact list. He and the prosecuting attorneys met with Judge Donald Cabell in chambers and resolved the matter to both parties’ satisfaction.
After the hearing, Reddington told reporters that as of now the mayor still has a February court date to stand trial on 13 of the 24 indictments against him from his arraignment last October.
Reddington said the mayor is entitled to his day in court on all charges and continues to work hard on behalf of the citizens of Fall River. He also believes the city council order seeking to temporarily remove the mayor from office “has no legal merit whatsoever”.
