The deadline for candidates to submit nomination papers to the elections office for the city election was last Friday.  And it looks like the race for mayor will be the only item on the ballot for the September 17 preliminary election.

Four candidates for mayor, incumbent Jasiel Correia and challengers Paul Coogan, Erica Scott-Pacheco and Angel L. Pantoja have submitted nomination papers.  Mr. Coogan and Ms. Scott-Pacheco have qualified for the ballot.  Mayor Correia will likely qualify to ensure a preliminary election.

In the race for city council, a minimum of 19 candidates is needed to guarantee a preliminary.  Only 17 candidates returned nomination papers by the deadline:

Incumbents

  • Joshua Hetzler
  • Thomas Khoury
