Mass in Motion – Fall River’s agency charged with preventing obesity through increased physical activity, and health eating – is holding a public meeting early next week.
According to Executive Director Julianne Kelly, the meeting is being held to initiate and organize The Friends of the Alfred L. Lima Quequeshan River Rail Trail. Kelly says the main focus will be promoting advocacy, stewardship, trail maintenance, and social events on the walking path that has undergone massive rehabilitation during the last couple of years.
Mass in Motion is working on such projects as expanding open spaces though the addition of a walking path at Cook Pond, the Quequechan Rail Trail project, and adopt-a-park programs throughout the city. Fall River is also making incredible strides towards creating a healthier city through a Healthy Neighborhood Market program, a Healthy Dining Program, so called worksite wellness, and working closely with farmers markets to expand access to more residents, according to Kelly.
The upcoming meeting on January 23rd will be held at Fall River Government Center beginning at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend, and all ideas will be taken under consideration.
