The 2019 Lunch Meets Lecture Series at Heritage State Park begins on Wednesday June 26, with a discussion of Portuguese immigration to Fall River in the textile era. The speaker will be UMass Dartmouth Professor Dr. Paula Noversa Rioux.
Titled “Bring your friends from the island: Portuguese settlement in Fall River at the turn of the 20th Century,” the talk will take place from noon to 12:45 p.m. in the park’s Visitor Center Theater. Admission is free, and attendees are encouraged to bring along a brown bag or picnic lunch.
