It appears indicted Mayor Jasiel Correia II will not resign by 5:00 p.m. today after having five days to do so since the city council had voted on December 18th to accept the certified recall signatures. The council vote last Tuesday means Correia has five business days after the December 18th vote to resign…or not. According to a letter the mayor wrote to the city council that was shared on social media, Correia adamantly refuses to step down. Here is the mayor’s most recent post on the subject.
‘I will ask for your vote once again in the recall election. We’ve done great work and there’s more to be done. We are back in campaign mode. I need every single supporter to stay positive and make sure you VOTE! Please read this article about how I feel about the recall ahead. Thank you for you prayers and support!
Not everyone will support us but that’s ok. We will win with your support. Let’s make it happen!’
