It appears the unemployment rate has gone down almost three percentage points from a year ago here in Fall River.
According to the State Department of Labor and Workforce Development statistics, Fall River’s unemployment rate was 9.5% in January of 2016 as compared to 4.9% in December of 2016. In addition, the labor force numbers in the city increased from approximately 37 thousand in December of 2015 to about 39 thousand 500 hundred last month.
While the Amazon Fullfillment Center in the city’s industrial park was responsible for about one thousand people being hired full-time, those numbers have not yet been reflected in the state figures.
