Friends of the Quequechan River Rail Trail and Massachusetts DCR invite you to attend a
FREE informational session that will discuss how to tell the difference between the various kinds
of trees in your neighborhood! Learn about how they grow, the benefits they provide, and why
they are so important to your community!

This hour-long basic tree care and identification session will be led by local DCR Foresters
who will be happy to answer any questions you may have about your urban forest. You will
also learn how you can participate in the program to Green the Gateway Cities and have a free
tree planted in your yard.

The Massachusetts Greening the Gateway Cities Program (GGCP) is an environmental and
energy efficiency program designed to reduce household heating and cooling energy use by
increasing tree canopy cover in urban residential areas in the state’s Gateway Cities.

The program plants trees (ranging from 6ft to 10ft tall) with a goal of covering 5% of the target
neighborhoods in new tree canopy cover. Trees are planted by DCR Bureau of Forestry, and
Urban Community Forestry crews hired from local communities.

Come to this event on February 25, 2019 at The Mary Fonseca School, 160 Wall St, Fall River
MA. Workshop will be held from 6:30
