Read, Happily Ever After–at Fall River Public Library!

A summer filled with fantasy and magical surprises awaits kids and families as the Fall River Public Library kicks off this year’s summer reading club, Read! Happily Ever After! on Friday, July 7 at 11 a.m. on the library’s front lawn. There will be entertainment, storybook characters to meet, and the opportunity for children ages 12 and younger to sign up for the 7-week reading club, generously sponsored by Rockland Trust Bank. Each week will bring performances, storytimes, and crafts with a fairytale theme.

The opening event begins with a performance by master puppeteer John McDonough of the Pumpernickel Puppets! Kids will meet the show’s host, “Bugsy the Bug,” who will introduce the audience to an ensemble of outrageous performing puppets! Families are invited to bring blankets to spread on the lawn as well as a picnic lunch or snacks. Keeping with the summer’s fairytale theme, children will also have the opportunity to meet the beauty Belle and her pal the Beast from Beauty and the Beast, who will both be posing for pictures.

During the July 7 event, children will have the opportunity to pick up their official summer reading logs to keep track of their reading progress over the course of the program as well as the summer events schedule listing all of the library’s exciting programs. Children can keep their reading skills sharp over the summer while collecting incentive prizes for their reading efforts, as well as raffle tickets for bigger prizes at the end of the summer! Children who can’t yet read on their own can still take part by having a parent read to them.
