LIBRARY ANNOUNCES NEW MORNING HOURS
As of this week, the Fall River Public Library has new weekday hours. The library is now open from 8 am – 8 pm, Monday through Thursday. Friday and Saturday hours remain 9 -5.
The new hours were chosen following a patron survey. More than 85% of those responding said they prefer to use the library earlier in the day and would favor an earlier opening.
“Some people had expressed that they would like the chance to stop in at the library before work,” said library director Liane Verville, “and we had also noticed that fewer people were using the library after 8 pm. The survey confirmed the need for earlier hours.”
The library will still offer a full schedule of free programs for all ages, such as preschool storytime at 11 am on Tuesdays and matinee movies on Mondays at 1 pm. (Evening movies will no longer be shown.)
Upcoming library events include a Teen Game Night on Tuesday, April 5 at 6 pm; Knitting Club on Tuesday, April 5 and Tuesday, April 19 at 2:30 pm; teen Magic: the Gathering meetup on Wednesday, April 6 at 5 pm; adult craft club on Wednesday, April 6 at 6 pm; a chocolate making workshop on Thursday, April 7 at 6 pm; and Chess Club on Sautrday, April 9 at 1 pm.
The adult craft club and chocolate-making workshop require registration. Please call the circulation desk to sign up: 508-324-2700, ext. 2.
During school vacation week, the library will offer daily crafts and activities for kids. Watch for another announcement to follow.
