Republican former state representative Leah Cole Allen is running to be the state’s next lieutenant governor.
She is looking to continue the work of current republican lieutenant governor Karyn Polito in helping meet the needs of local cities and towns.
Ms. Allen, who is not vaccinated for COVID-19, decided to enter the race after she was let go from her nursing job. She feels the government should not be in the role of implementing mandates and should protect the personal freedoms outlined in the constitution. She feels electing another Republican administration will guard against the liberal actions of the state legislature.
Ms. Allen is running in tandem with gubernatorial candidate Geoff Diehl. She feels in her role as chair of the governor’s council she will strive for the appointment of state judges who will protect the rights of Baystate residents.
When it comes to serving gateway cities like Fall River, Ms. Allen says the key is providing quality education and employment opportunities.
