Bristol Community College celebrated the Bristol County Law Enforcement Leadership Program Graduation on September 14, 2018

The Bristol County Law Enforcement Leadership Program, coordinated by the Bristol Community College Center for Workforce and Community Education, held its inaugural graduation ceremony on Friday, September 14, 2018, at the Swansea Police Department. The event celebrated 25 Bristol County police officers who completed the 12- session leadership training program, covering nearly 96 hours.

Designed with input from more than a dozen regional police departments, the innovative leadership program began its pilot initiative in May and included pressing topics such as conflict resolution, suicide prevention, communication styles, ethics, labor relations, and more. Participants in the program collaborated across presentations, about pertinent topics, also promoting teamwork across departments.

The specialized program was first envisioned from conversations with police chiefs from New Bedford, Attleboro and Somerset who met with the Bristol Community College Center for Workforce and Community Education staff. They envisioned a customized curriculum that took in a broader view of leadership training and the specific needs of the law enforcement community.
