City of Fall River Announces 2020 Holiday Festivities
(Fall River, MA- November 24th, 2020)- Mayor Coogan is pleased to announce two events to help mark the Holiday season in Fall River.
First, The City of Fall River has partnered with Greater Fall River Re-Creation to put together “Santa’s Jolly Ride”, a 14 mile motorcade through the City. The motorcade will depart from Government Center at 3pm on Saturday, December 5th before covering the South and North ends of Fall River. Included in this motorcade will be favorites from past Children’s Parades, including the Worcester Sound and Lights Machine, as well as public safety vehicles, trolleys and vehicles carrying some beloved children’s characters. The finale of the motorcade will be Santa and his elves on their sleigh. Details about the route can be found at www.fallriverma.org/event/santas-jolly-ride.
The second event planned for the holidays is a one-hour television special titled “Christmas in Fall River with Sons of Serendip”. After last year’s performance at Durfee High School, the band Sons of Serendip, former America’s Got Talent finalists, will be back in Fall River. They will be recording a performance for Fall River residents from the Narrows Center for the Arts for a classic Christmas TV special. The program will be aired on the CW Providence (Cox 9/1009, Comcast 813/1170, Verizon 14/509) on Saturday, December 19th at 8pm.
“After a strange and difficult year, I am proud to bring these events to the residents of Fall River,” remarked Mayor Coogan. “Our motorcade with Santa will bring some fun and excitement to our children during this abnormal holiday season. The old fashioned Christmas special on the CW is a great opportunity for Fall River to acknowledge its history and show thousands of households across Southern New England what Fall River has to offer. Sons of Serendip played a fantastic show at Durfee last year and I have enjoyed working with them again.”
