Another item has been added to tonight’s Fall River City Council meeting. The resolution, submitted by Council President Cliff Ponte, requests that Mayor Jasiel Correia submit vehicle log information to the council that involves the operation of the vehicle often used by the mayor.

The council wants a copy of the motor pool vehicle log between June 1st, 2018 and the present; a list of vehicle drivers; names of those who fuel the vehicle, and confirmation of the vehicle’s location the morning of October 11th, 2018 – the day Correia was arrested and charged with a 13 count federal indictment in connection with wire fraud and filing false tax returns. This resolution was added after the agenda was prepared. Whether the mayor provides this information, though, is solely up to him, since a resolution is simply expresses the will of the city council.

In addition to the above, Councilors will take up the issues discussed during a Special City Council meeting last week that involved discussion on whether the mayor should resign as a direct result of his arrest; declare Correia unfit to serve as mayor as per the city charter, Section-8 (objected on October 16th, 2018); and a vote of no confidence.

The meeting begins with the Finance Committee at 6:00 pm with the full council convening at 7:00 pm. which starts off with citizens input time. and will be held at city council chambers at Government Center.
