Holy Name Elementary School in Fall River is in the process of getting solar panels installed on about ten thousand square feet of what makes up its roof. According to School Director, Reverend Jay T. Maddock, Holy Name is the first Catholic School in the city that will be using solar power possibly as soon as November when the panels are expected to be commissioned.

It took the school’s Advisory Council two years to develop and present the solar panel plan to school officials, and the Fall River diocese. Now that the project is coming to fruition, Principal, Dr. Patricia Wardell says, the solar plan fits in well with Holy Name’s long term strategic plan:
