The city administration and the union representing former sanitation workers and their legal representatives, were expected to be in Boston today for a three day series of hearings in connection with unfair labor practice allegations the union filed against the Correia administration. However, the State Department of Labor Relations rescheduled for January 23rd – 25th 2017.

According to Teamsters Local 251 Contract Coordinator & Spokesman David Robbins, the DLR pushed back the informal hearings in order to give both sides a chance to settle the case.

The hearings came as a result of 24 city sanitation workers being laid off as of July 1st after Mayor Correia announced he was privatizing trash and would not be utilizing the city employees. Mediation came to a stand still, so the union wants to air its grievance at the State DLR. those sessions were expected to begin today and end Friday, December 9th.
