What’s Happening at the Library: August 29-September 3, 2021
Here’s what’s happening at the library as we transition from summer into the school year.
During the week of August 30-September 3, the library is still on summer hours—closed Saturdays and open 9-3 on Fridays. After Labor Day, we will be open 9-5 on Fridays and Saturdays. Our first Saturday will be September 11.
Beginning Wednesday, September 1, the library will host an art exhibit, “Churches of Fall River,” featuring the photography of Ron Caplain. The photographs, which will be on display in the lower-level hallway, depict houses of worship in Fall River, both historical and new. The exhibit will be on display throughout the month of September. On Wednesday, September 1st, the artist will be on hand from 1:30-3 pm in the Meeting Room to chat with anyone who has questions or would like a copy of any of the photos from the display. This program is supported in part by a grant from the Fall River Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
Also on Wednesday, September 1, the library will host a Magic: the Gathering Meetup for teens, from 5-7 pm in the Fell Room. This program is intended for players ages 12 and up. No experience with the game is necessary—new players welcome! The program will run every Wednesday.
Also on Wednesday, September 1, our ongoing Dungeons & Dragons game meets online from 6-8 pm on Discord. The in-person Dungeons & Dragons group meets on Thursday, September 2 at 6 pm in the Nagle Room. Both groups are currently full, but contact our teen librarian, Taylor, at tsilva@sailsinc.org to put your name on the waiting list!
Just a reminder that the library will be closed on Monday, September 6 for Labor Day.
Preschool Storytimes will be back on Tuesday, September 7 at 11 am.
