NEW PLAYGROUND COMMUNITY BUILD DAY 8/28/17

Fall River, MA, August 2, 2017– Dr Pepper Snapple Group (DPS) and national non-profit
KaBOOM! awarded Citizens for Citizens, Inc. Head Start a $15,000 Let’s Play Community
Construction Grant that will be used in conjunction with additional funding awarded from the
Administration of Children And Families to build a new play yard at its Aldrich School location.
The playground will be constructed on August 28 th with the help of 50 student volunteers from
Roger Williams University as part of the University’s Feinstein Community Connections Program.
The mission of the Feinstein Community Connections program is to continue the orientation
process for new students by providing a common service experience that actualizes the
University’s commitment to “strengthen society through engaged teaching and learning”
Since 2005, incoming RWU students have participated in a special day of service prior to the start
of the fall semester. Student groups are led by faculty, staff and returning RWU student leaders
in service to non-profits, municipal and state agencies.
“We are very excited to work with the RWU students”, said Pamela Wildnauer, Head Start
Director. “This new playground will truly be a labor of love. We are thrilled to see our vision of a
safe, developmentally appropriate and stimulating outdoor play space come to life. This could not
happen without the support of Citizens for Citizens, Head Start Staff, and the Roger Williams
University Student Volunteers”.
