A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon at the Veterans Memorial Bicentennial Park in Fall River. The event will showcase the construction of the permanent Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall. Along with city officials, Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker, and Lt. Governor Karyn Polito,  will be in attendance.

The ceremony marks the construction period for the permanent replica of the Vietnam War Memorial in Washington, DC. Like that monument, the structure in Fall River will bear the names of tens of thousands of American service members who died during that war.

Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall Committee President Joseph Marshall tells FRC Media News, that 58 thousand names will be etched into the monument. “Names of real people who lost their lives in Vietnam,” he added.

The groundbreaking ceremony begins at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2nd.  The public is welcome to attend, but the event will be covered by FRC Media News with video and photographs to follow.
