Another delay in the opening of roads associated with the Globe Street Sewer Improvement Project. The construction requires a partial closure of the intersection of Globe Street, South Main Street, and Broadway and has been ongoing since last fall. Detour routes are in effect and clearly marked. Detours may vary based on construction activities.
Potential road closures include: South Main Street (southbound) at Globe Street, South Main Street (Northbound) at Hall Street, Globe Street (eastbound) between Allen Street, and Kilburn Street.
Due to harsh winter weather conditions and ledge in the area of sewer and other utilities, detours are extended to April 14th, 2017.
The city’s Sewer and Water Department advises that following the construction project, Liberty Utilities will be replacing a gas line from the Globe Street Intersection heading west. Following all utility work, re-paving of the intersection will begin, and may temporarily disrupt traffic in this area. Completion of activities in this area is expected to be June 1, 2017.
