State and local officials continue to deal with the issue of food insecurity in the time of COVID-19, as illness, combined with increased unemployment, has led more people needing assistance. Even with the increased activity of local food pantries, those unable to leave their homes have been particularly vulnerable.
The United Way and United Neighbors of Fall River have devised a program that will combine donations with the delivery of food to those who are homebound.
Last week the state announced the allocation of $56 million to go toward local efforts to keep food on the tables of those in need.
