The non-profit organization Gates of Hope, Incorporated suffered a loss over the weekend. According to Faith Scallion – who assists with the charitable organization’s mission to provide food and clothing to the needy in Fall River – a wooden utility trailer used for the organization’s cause has been stolen.
A report in today’s Fall River Herald News states that Scallion purchased the trailer for $600 dollars in 2014 after which she added about $500 dollars worth of accessories. The trailer is about five by ten feet, has a black back gate, and was used mainly to pick up food donations and deliver them to churches and other charitable establishments from the non-profit agency located at 112 Flint street.
The trailer was reportedly found missing over the weekend. Scallion says a surveillance video shows a man in a gray hoodie hitching it to a black car, and simply towing it away around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 1st. According to Scallion, the thief knew exactly what he was doing when he stole the trailer, adding it makes her “sick to the stomach” to think about it.
Scallion filed a police report, and is urging anyone with information to notify authorities because she needs the trailer now to deliver much-needed food items. The trailer was only insured to be used for travel, so she isn’t entitled to any money since its been stolen.
