Gabriel Boomer Amaral officially launched his campaign for mayor last evening at a fundraiser at the T.A. Restaurant on South Main Street.
Mr. Amaral has run for city council twice and feels now is the time for him to run for mayor, for what he says is the city government’s lack of attention to the wishes of residents.
Mr. Amaral grew up in Fall River, served 19 years in the military, and now sells real estate. He is a single dad with six children who have become engaged in his campaign.
Mr. Amaral believes that, if elected, there is no single issue that will dominate his attention.
Mr. Amaral is one of five candidates on the Fall River Preliminary Election ballot for voters on September 16. The others are incumbent mayor Paul Coogan and challengers Carlos Cesar, Christopher Silvia, and Michael Vandal.
