City Corporation Counsel Joe Macy has confirmed the Fall River Office of Economic Development was issued a notice on May 8th that the non profit agency’s tenancy is terminated at Government Center. Macy said a notice to quit was served to the FROED attorney before noon.

Macy said, “It’s a formal notice that we want them to pay, and that they have 30 days to vacate.”

In April, Macy wrote an opinion for Mayor Jasiel Correia’s administratation that alleges FROED owes the city $113 thousand dollars in back rent, which he claims was not paid since July of 2014. That’s when a licensing agreement had apparently expired.

FROED Vice President Kenneth Fiola, Jr., who is still out of the country on vacation, says he feels its unfortunate that the mayor is going in this direction, and also confirms his office will be moving to the Cherry and Webb building, which FROED owns.
