FRCMedia is debuting a special documentary on the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.

Safe Houses: The Underground Railroad in Fall River, takes a look at the city’s role in the emancipation of slaves during the Civil War by utilizing the country’s Underground Railroad network.

“Local historians have documented how the SouthCoast played an integral role in freeing slaves during the Civil War”, said Keith Thibault, Director of FRCMedia, “We take a closer look at locations in Fall River that contributed to that effort.”

In particular, the documentary examines six properties in the city where local abolitionists, sympathetic to the cause of slaves, assisted in their transfer from the South to free states and Canada.

Safe Houses: The Underground Railroad in Fall River is written and produced by former FRCMedia Marketing Director Jayne Darcy and filmed and edited by FRCMedia Assistant Director Steven Rys.

Safe Houses: The Underground Railroad in Fall River will air on FRCMedia Channel 95 on the Fall River Comcast cable television system and will be made available for viewing online on its website, frmedia.org.
