Four Months In, Rep. Ouellette Getting Accustomed to State House Role

Eighth Bristol District State Representative Steven Ouellette, who serves a small portion of Fall River, is quickly learning that being a lawmaker requires perseverance and patience…traits he learned as an office holder in Westport during the time of State Representative Paul Schmid.

As a freshman legislator, Representative Ouellette appreciates the support he has received from his colleagues and understands that the limitations of low seniority play in passing budget requests for local projects.

Representative Ouellette, a former local police officer, has co-sponsored a bill to help local law enforcement control activity at a crime scene.

Representative Ouellette is a member of five committees and was recently assigned a permanent office. He says the pace of activity at the state house can, at times, seem deliberate and frenetic at the same time.

Representative Ouellette has access to space at Fall River Government Center to meet with constituents. Appointments and questions can be directed to 608-677-0905.
