Former Red Sox outfielder Johnny Damon of the 2004 World Series Championship team will headline the One SouthCoast Chamber of Commerce‘s celebrity dinner on May 20 at Venus De Milo.

The dinner will honor SouthCoast students receiving scholarships through the SouthCoast Community Foundation. Mr. Damon played 18 seasons in the major leagues with six teams. After retiring in 2012, he founded A-Game Beverages, a clean hydration company focusing on healthy, all-natural beverages.

He says success on the field, in school, or in business takes dedication and perseverance.

While in the big leagues, Mr. Damon formed the Johnny Damon Foundation, which raises funds distributed to organizations in central Florida. He says that since his earliest days in baseball, he understood his role as a role model to teammates and fans.

Mr. Damon won the World Series with the Red Sox and the New York Yankees. He says each city has its own unique sports fan base.

The celebrity dinner is made possible through the generosity of the Robert F. Stoico/FIRSTFED Charitable Foundation.
