The SouthCoast has a new advocate for the arts on the board of the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

Appointed by Governor Maura Healey in April, Ashley Occhino served as executive director of the Fall River Arts and Culture Coalition and sees her new role as championing the arts along the SouthCoast.

Ms. Occhino resigned from her position at FRACC effective January 1st. She says the city has embraced how art plays a pivotal role within the community.
