Forever Paws Adopts New Technology for Lost Pets

Fall River’s Forever Paws Animal Shelter has a new way to help reunite lost pets with their owners.

Every dog and cat that enters the shelter is now registered on Finding Rover, a nationwide app and website that uses facial recognition technology to identify pets that have gone missing.  Individuals who lose or find a pet can upload pictures and descriptions of the animal to Finding Rover from their phones or computers, or search to see if it is already listed on the site.

Forever Paws is encouraging community members to register cats and dogs for the free service at findingrover.com. The site also features cats and dogs that are available for adoption.

“Once your pets are registered, they’re protected for life,” says shelter director Casey Fredette.
