A fire at 302 Hope Street last night caused one adult and one child to be displaced, according to Fall River Fire Department Captain Neil Furtado. He says the fire in the first floor rear unit of the six unit residence was in the wall around the area of the vent for the space heater.

Reportedly, the fire is determined to be accidental and caused $3,000 dollars in damages to the home, which is undergoing renovations in a seperate area of the triple-decker building.

The call came in at 7:05 p.m. and the first unit arrived three minutes later. The blaze was extinguished by 7:24, Furtado says.

The following units responded: Engine 2 and Heavy Rescue 1, out of the Center Station; Engine 4 and Ladder 2 from the Candeias Station; Engine 5 and Car 3 from the Globe Street Station; Ladder 2 from the Candeias Station; and Platform 1 from the Stanley Street Station responded.
