Fall River Police and Fire Department Officials are investigating a blaze at a vacant building at 14th and Merchant Streets. The fire at the vacant building erupted Sunday morning around 10:35 a.m.
Sgt. Kevin Medeiros says that police and fire officials got a phone call about smoke coming from the abandoned building. When officers arrived they found lit rags pushed into a window frame of the structure. Officer Charles Souza was the first to spot the burning rags, and pulled them away from the building.
There was minimal damage to the structure, and no one was reported injured in the incident.
