Here are the latest unemployment figures for Massachusetts and Fall River
Unemployment in Fall River remained unchanged in February at 8.2 percent, more than twice the state average, according to figures released Tuesday by the state Office of Labor and Workforce Development.
The city’s unemployment rate was 8.2 percent in January. It was tied with Harwich for the ninth highest unemployment in the state.
The city had a labor force of 40,850 in February, up from 40,329 in January. State figures showed there were 37,491 city residents employed and 3,359 people listed as looking for work but unemployed.
The Bay State unemployment rate was 4 percent in February, unchanged from January. The state average for 2017 was 3.7 percent. Massachusetts was tied with Virginia for the 17th lowest unemployment in the country.
