Stop & Shop workers remain on strike today in Fall River. Holding signs and waving to motorists and residents passing by Stop & Shop’s market on Rodman Street this afternoon, the peaceful protesters were trying to bring public attention to their plight.
Through a recent media release Stop & Shop management reported they are disappointed with the workers’ decision to strike while contract negotiations continue, especially since a federal mediator is involved in the process.
Reportedly, the employees want across-the-board raises and better health and pension benefits. Management says the benefits currently provided are already better than what most retailers provide.
