In the latest release of COVID-19 infection rates, the City of Fall River is one of 14 communities statewide still in the “red” or high-risk level of COVID infections.
Raw data from the city released yesterday show the number of new COVID-19 infections in the past week have plateaued; with Fall River reporting 147 new cases of the virus since last week, up from 141 new cases the prior week. The total number of COVID-19 cases in Fall River since March 1, 2020, sits at 12, 472.
New fatalities connected to the pandemic rose slightly last week, with eight new deaths reported compared to seven the week prior. Total deaths in Fall River from the pandemic now total 331.
In the weekly state public health report detailing rates of COVID infection, Fall River remains as one of only 14 communities in the Commonwealth still in the “red” or high-risk level of incidence of COVID infections. The city’s average positive incidence rate per 100,000 residents for the last two weeks is at 23 cases, higher than a week ago. The city’s positivity rate is at 4.03%, lower than last week. The city needs to drop below 10 cases per 100,000 residents or have a positivity rate below 4% to be removed from the high-risk designation.
The next set of data will be released next Thursday.
