Two Fall River men who led Fall River, and Freetown police on a high-speed motor vehicle chase after allegedly robbing a convenience store have been arrested.

28 year old Matthew J. Lemieux, and 55 year old Joseph Zackaseki were caught after Freetown police successfully used “stop sticks” to disable their pickup in the early evening on Sunday, March 5th near the intersection of Copicut and High Streets in Freetown. That from Fall River police Lt. Paul Santos.

Officers were forced to use Tasers to subdue Zackaseki; later in their search they found Lemieux allegedly hiding in nearby brush.

Both men were arrested on several armed robbery, firearm and conspiracy-related charges, with Zachaseki additionally charged with two counts of assault with a dangerous weapons, and assault and battery.

The police encounter with the Fall River suspects began around 8:00 p.m. Sunday when an officer spotted a pickup truck abruptly pull onto North Main Street, with a man chasing and yelling at the occupants inside the vehicle. The man told police the suspects had just robbed the Marques Market located on North Main Street in Fall River, with one of them threatening to shoot the clerk if the money wasn’t handed over.

The chase pursued, and the suspects ultimately arrested. Both men were scheduled to be arraigned in superior court this week.
