A 71 year old Fall River man, arrested recently on his fifth drunk driving offense, is being held without bail while his case is pending.

Manuel Valente of 76 Hunter Street was determined to be a danger to the community following a dangerousness hearing last Friday in Fall River District Court, according to court documents.

Valente had his driver’s license revoked for life in August 2014. His latest arrest was on March 27th in Swansea after police officers saw his vehicle swerving along the roadway. The officers arrested Valente after he failed a series of field sobriety tests. The charges against him include operating under the influence of liquor fifth offense, and other motor vehicle offenses.

Valente will be detained without bail for up to 120 days while his case is pending in Fall River District Court. He is scheduled to return to court for a status review hearing on July 28th.
