A Fall River man has been slapped with his fifth drunk driving charge following his recent arrest in Swansea.

Police records report that 72 year old Manuel Valente of Buffington Street was arrested Monday night. He was charged with operating under the influence of liquor when a motorist called police about an erratic vehicle operator swerving all over Interstate 195. Officer Keith Lake responded to the scene, and observed the driver in question driving on Maple Avenue. After pulling the him over to the side of the road, Valente failed a field sobriety test, and was placed under arrest.

As already mentioned, this is Valente’s fifth DUI arrest; three others were made in Massachusetts, and one other in New York. It was also later determined that Valente’s driver’s license had been suspended for life.
