Yet another blaze erupted in Fall River, this one destroying a clothing store called “Vibe” at 272 South Main Street early Sunday evening. According to Fire Department reports, the building sustained heavy damage; a blackened seared wall in the back of the shop was visible from the street.

The fire was considered ‘smokey.’ meaning firefighters had to vent the area for more time than usual after arriving at the scene shortly after the 6:00 p.m. call came in. District Fire Chief James Mellen described the scene as “just a wall” of smoke. In addition to the poor visibility, layers of ceiling in the old building were difficult to knock down, which only fueled the flames. Ultimately, it was a tin ceiling that contained the blaze that remains under investigation.
