To date, only one school committee incumbent in Fall River has taken out nomination papers for re-election. Joe Martins of 578 Lawton Street, took out papers Tuesday, May 9th. So far, his contenders include candidate Sean Connell, of 219 Purchase Street; Miriam Morales, 132 New Boston Road; and Jessica Wong, of 377 N. Underwood Street.
Earlier this spring, School Committee Member Gabriel Andrade told FRC Media News that he would not seek re-election due to family issues. He also stated that was the only reason, adding he feels confident in the work being done by School Superintendent Matt Malone.
Since a last check of contenders for the Office of Mayor or City Council there were no other candidates who pulled nomination papers since they were made available on April 25th.
