Fall River City Council President Cliff Ponte, Jr. will not serve in that position when the elective body meets in regular session tonight. Since Mayor Jasiel Correia II last week temporarily stepped down from his duties until January 1st, 2020 in light of the 24 federal indictments against him, Ponte has stepped into the city’s top post.
Now that Ponte is acting mayor, the remaining eight city councilors are expected to be in attendance this evening with Vice President Pam Laliberte-Lebeau serving as council president.
