The Fall River City Council Subcommittee is expected to meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 1st to discuss one item: The resolution regarding the removal of cemetery planters & Urns from Oak Grove Cemetery (Adopted, as amended 10-11-16).
The Park Commission Board members were invited to attend the meeting to hear and give input to the discussion, which will be open to citizens input time as well.
Meanwhile…on the eve of the meeting, Mayor Correia held a news conference today to discuss the clean up efforts at Oak Grove Cemetery that caused outrage among mourners after grave site ceramic planters, silk flowers, and urns were removed per city ordinance. During the conference Mayor Correia named a new Interim Cemetery Director John Perry to replace Nancy Smith who has held that position, and who resigned from it last week, even though she will continue on in her position as park manager.
