The Fall River City Council will meet during regular session on Tuesday, October 10th beginning with the Committee on Regulations at 5:15 p.m. followed by the Finance Committee immediately afterwards.

While the agenda is attached, two items up for discussion include the city council’s formal request to hear more about Mayor Jasiel Correia’s plan to end the Pay as You Throw method of trash removal now ongoing in the city. The agenda states that Mayor Correia ran a series of local radio commercials about his plan to do away with the purple bags, and also made the same statement during the People’s Debate last month. Councilors are  now asking that Finance Committee members meet with Correia to gain a clear understanding of his proposal.

Also on the agenda is that councilors want an update on the progress of the King Phillip Mills ongoing construction process. The abandoned mill on Kilburn Street has proved a safety issue in the city’s south end for several years, and is slated to be renovated into market rate housing. State Representative and South End Neighborhood Association President Alan Silvia has been instrumental in pushing this project forward.

Here is the rest of the agenda for the October 10th regular meeting.
