The City of Fall River has privatized trash collection. That announcement came from Mayor Jasiel Correia at a news conference today. Correia said the city will enter into a 10-year contract with Revere-based EZ Disposal Service with annual payments of $3.3 million dollars in the first three years, a consumer price index in the next eight years, and a 2.5 percent cap. The Memorandum Of Understanding to privatize trash collection is to begin July 1st, the start of fiscal year 2017, which Correia says was no easy decision to make:
