The Fall River WIC Nutrition Program housed at the HealthFirst Family Care Center is holding its second annual Community Baby Shower this weekend in support of expectant mothers who need help in caring for their newborn children.
100 mothers, who are WIC eligible, will be on hand this Saturday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Spencer Borden School and will be showered with essentials and extras to help them begin the transition to parenthood.
There will be over 21 community partners on hand at the baby shower with information to help expectant mothers. In its second year, the community baby shower has been able to help more mothers than a year ago, thanks to the generous contributions of many local partners.
The City of Fall River, the Fall River Public Schools, the Fall River Police Department and the Fall River District and Superior Courts have also contributed to the event.
Fall River WIC hosts monthly diaper pantries for eligible parents and will support another smaller community baby shower slated to be held next month sponsored by the Fall River Elks Lodge. Pre-registration is required. For more information email Fall River WIC at wicoutreach@healthfirstfr.org.
