Here are the events planned at the Fall River Public Library from May 24-May 28.
There’s something for everyone at the Fall River Public Library this week, with fun and lively events for kids, teens, and adults.
The fun starts Tuesday, May 24, with Preschool Storytime in the morning, from 11 – 11:45, for kids age 3 and up.
On Tuesday afternoon, from 4 – 5 pm, it’s Beyblade Day! If you’re a Beyblade Collector, or if you’d just like to see these super-fast tops in action, you are welcome to join us. Kids are invited to bring their own Beyblade tops or try out the library models. We’ll have a launcher arena set up for kids to compete.
Also on Tuesday, May 24, the library welcomes Drumsinger A. Michelle for a Gong Bath Meditation at 6 pm. This unique program combines music with a guided meditation for an immersive, relaxing experience. Like a deep and lasting massage, the gongs tune the physical, emotional and spiritual bodies to higher resonance, shaking us free of the stress of daily life. To sign up, email draymondo@sailsinc.org or call the library’s reference department at 508-324-2700, ext. 3.
Next, on Wednesday, May 25, we have Play & Learn at 10 am, presented by the Fall River Schools and recommended for children up to age 5.
For teens, we have our weekly Magic: the Gathering group on Wednesday, May 25 from 5 -7 pm. Both new and experienced players are invited to join the game.
Our teen Dungeons & Dragons group meets on Wednesday nights online, from 6 -8 pm, and in person on Thursdays from 6 -8 pm. Both groups are currently full, but teens can email tsilva@sailsinc.org to join our waitlist.
On Thursday, May 26 at 4 pm, kids age 4 and up are invited to join us in the Meeting Room for BEAM, the interactive game system that turns the library floor into a giant game board! We have different games each week, so come and try them out.
Also on Thursday, at 6 pm, the library welcomes the award-winning Delvena Theatre Company for the original mystery play, Murder a la Carte! There’s been a murder at Luigi’s Italian Ristorante. Can you figure out whodunit? The audience is invited to join in and help solve the mystery in this fun, interactive production, recommended for adults. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Fall River Public Library and is supported in part by a grant from the Fall River Cultural Council, a local agency, which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
On Saturday, May 28, we will offer a Wooden Animal Craft for kids from 10 a.m. – 12 noon. Kids age 6 and up can choose from a variety of hand-crafted wooden animals, including bears, elephants, and gorillas, and decorate them using acrylic paints and other materials we will have on hand. They will make a great decoration in your home or a perfect gift for Father’s Day.
Due to limited space and supplies, parents are asked to call the Children’s Room at 508-324-2700, ext. 4, to reserve a spot.
Also on Saturday, our weekly Chess Club (recommended for adults) meets in the library from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.
