Here are the events planned at the Fall River Public Library for the week beginning Monday, July 4.

From the Fall River Public Library

A reminder that the library will be closed for the holiday on Monday, July 4th and will re-open on Tuesday, July 5th for our usual summer schedule.

Planning a vacation or staycation? Don’t forget that the library offers wifi hotspots for checkout, so you can stay connected on the go. They are part of our “Library of Things,” which includes bicycles and ukuleles! We also offer museum passes for free or reduced-fee admission to local attractions such as zoos, museums, and state parks. Ask at the circulation desk or call 508-324-2700, ext. 2, for information.

On Tuesdays at 11 am, the library hosts Preschool Storytime. Join us for an outdoor storytime every Tuesday morning under the tent on the Elm Street lawn! Storytime includes 30 minutes of stories featuring puppets, songs, and other activities, recommended for ages 3 and up.

On Tuesday, July 5 at 2:30 pm, the library hosts our biweekly Knitting Club. Our club welcomes all yarn crafters who enjoy knitting or crocheting (as well as spinning, cross-stitch, or quilting). Join us for a fun, relaxing knitting circle, where we can share current projects, favorite patterns, and tips. Beginners and experienced stitchers are welcome. Please bring your own yarn and needles. The Knitting Club meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 2:30 pm. Walk-ins are always welcome!

Also on Tuesday, July 5 at 6 pm, teens are invited to join us for our ongoing Teen Game Night! A handful of consoles and multiplayer games such as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and Super Mario Party will be available. We have a Nintendo Switch. Bringing your own handheld devices and controllers is encouraged, the more the merrier!

On Wednesday, July 6, the library will host a Vaccination Clinic from 3-7 pm in the Meeting Room. Vaccinations for both kids and adults will be available.

At 5 pm on Wednesday, July 6, our teen Magic: the Gathering group meets in the Nagle Room. New players are always welcome to join!

Our monthly Craft Club for adults meets on Wednesday, July 6 at 6 pm in the Fell Reading Room. This month’s craft is an introduction to origami. We will create two origami fidget toys. To register for this free program, call 508-324-2700, ext. 3.

Also on Thursday, July 7, from 4-5 pm, kids are invited to join us for BEAM, the new interactive game system in the Meeting Room. This virtual playground turns the room into a giant game board for kids to engage in active play. It’s recommended for ages 4 and up.

Fridays are now Board Game Day! On Friday, July 8, teens are invited to drop in for Board Games from 1-2 pm. We’ll have an assortment of board games available for teens 12-18. Registration is not required for this event.

And get ready for Summer Reading 2022, sponsored by Rockland Trust Bank. Our summer reading program starts Monday, July 11 with a performance by Vanessa and the Jumping Monkeys at 11 am. The free concert kicks off six weeks of exciting events. Visit the Children’s Room or call 508-324-2700, ext. 4, for more information.
