THE FERREIRA-MENDES PORTUGUESE- AMERICAN ARCHIVES RECEPTION: JOE RAPOSO DAY 4:00 pm – 6:30 pm, in the Visitor Center Fall River recognizes a hometown genius: Joe Raposo! Join the Ferreira-Mendes Portuguese-American Archives at UMass Dartmouth and the City of Fall River in celebrating Portuguese immigration and the wonderful life and magical world of Portuguese-American composer Joe Raposo and his Muppet friends. See a screening of a rare tribute film to Raposo. View the exhibits. Refreshments will be served. In the Visitor Center. Festivities start at 4:00 pm. Free. ULTIMATE TRIBUTE CONCERT WITH ROBERT BLACK AND SPECIAL GUESTS JOHNNY CASH, CREEDENCE AND ELVIS! 6:00pm—8:00pm, in the Meadow The FRPL presents the amazing ALL STAR TRIBUTE bill of these music legends. It is all free and outdoors in the Meadow. There will be food trucks. STEPPINGSTONE’S 20TH ANNIVERSARY GET STEPPIN’ 5K WALK 9:15am-10:30am on the Boardwalk Fundraising event to benefit First Stepp Inn, a homeless shelter that offers meals, shelter, housing placement, treatment, educational and vocational opportunities. PLEIN AIR ART DEMONSTRATIONS 12:00 noon- 3:00 pm, by the Pollinator Garden Plein Air is the art of creating art outdoors. Meet local artists from the Greater Fall River Art Association as they draw near our Pollinator Garden on the 14th, and paint near the Pollinator Garden on 28th. ANNE’S CREDIT UNION 27TH ANNUAL SUMMER CONCERT: 4:30 pm—6:30 p.m. in the Meadow Starring Chicago Total Access, New England’s “premier tribute to the band Chicago.” This is a high-energy, explosive showband dedicated to covering Chicago’s catalog that spans over 45 years. EXHIBIT: A GLIMPSE INTO PORTUGUESE- AMERICAN IMMIGRATION, 8:00 am– 4:00 pm Bristol County is home to the largest concentration of Portuguese-Americans in the United States. Through photographs, rare newspaper articles, and other insightful documents, this exhibit offers a glimpse into the experience of the region’s dominant ethnic community. Fall River Heritage State Park features a monument to local Portuguese-American poet Joao Teixeira de Medeiros. This exhibit is on loan from the Ferreira-Mendes Portuguese-American Archives at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.

SING! THE SESAME STREET® WORLD OF COMPOSER JOE RAPOSO, 8:00 am—4:00 pm Celebrate the creative genius of a local hero: Joseph Guilherme Raposo, the son of Azorean immigrants who went to Harvard College, studied music, and became one of the creators of Sesame Street®. Fall River is proud to honor Joe Raposo with a collaboration between Fall River Heritage State Park, Creative Arts Network, and the Greater Fall River Arts Association. The Visitor Center will host music, sing-a-long StoryWalks® of his books “Sing” and “Imagination Song” and along the Boardwalk a StoryWalk® of another Raposo book “Sunny Day.” Check on-line for hands-on fun activities for the whole family.
