Local residents wanting to open their own businesses can get some advice from entrepreneurs who came before them.
On Wednesday, October 21, from 9 a.m – noon in the Jackson Arts Center Atrium (H-Building)
Speakers include a current BCC student who has a clothing line and e-commerce business, a 16 year old entrepreneur, and the owners of local businesses. The speakers will discuss different aspects of their businesses, what gives them inspiration, and how they have developed their businesses and brands.
Presenters will speak one-on-one with participants about their industries and starting a business. The 25 businesses scheduled to attend the event include a bakery, banking, chiropractic, bridal, e-commerce, music, and more. Each business will have their own table where they can demonstrate products, discuss their industries, and network with attendees. 5 area school are sending their business students to the event.
Small business start-ups are vital to a healthy economic environment. Research suggests that 99.7 percent of all employee firms are small businesses, and 60 to 80 percent of all new jobs annually are generated by small businesses.
