Massachusetts 4th District Congressman Jake Auchincloss, who represents Fall River, says it doesn’t matter whether he is challenged in this year’s election. (He is running unopposed) His focus remains on serving the people he represents.
Congressman Auchicnloss is seeking his third term in the House. He says in serving Fall River he wants to continue to deliver funds that will grow economic development opportunities for the city.
The Congressman also wants to work with his colleagues to drive down the cost of living for city residents focused on affordable housing.
Congressman Auchincloss hopes the immigration reform bill proposed by the Biden Administration will be allowed to move forward in the next Congress. This measure calls for enforcing the rule of law and order on the southern border while promoting legal immigration. He also sees the bill as a tool to curtail the influx of fentanyl into the United States.
He says he supports the Second Amendment allowing for common-sense gun regulation.
Other issues the Congressman hopes to work on in the next session are codifying reproductive rights outlined in Roe vs. Wade and continuing the administration’s plan to lower prescription drug prices.
Congressman Auchincloss remains committed to supporting Israel and its right to defend itself against terrorists in the Middle East. He added that the Israeli government remains unclear on an exit strategy for the war that includes the future of a Palestinian state.
The Congressman admits the election will be close with control of Congress up in the air. He says the current session has been the least productive in his lifetime and attributes that to the Republican leadership remaining beholden to former President Donald Trump.
