A local race Fall River voters will weigh in on this election season is for Bristol County Sheriff. Democrat Attleboro Mayor Paul Heroux is looking to unseat longtime Republican incumbent Sheriff Tom Hodgson.
Mayor Heroux has experience working in a correctional facility in Philadelphia before becoming a state representative and now mayor. He says his experience in measuring results on how inmates transition from jail will make the Bristol County prison more effective. He believes Sheriff Hodgson’s tough talk on crime has not served the county well.
Mayor Heroux says he will make it a priority to ensure relationships with local police departments are effective.
Mayor Heroux is looking to foster a constructive relationship with current staff and correctional officers.
Mayor Heroux was also critical of Sheriff Hodgson in his prior role of housing undocumented immigrants at the Bristol County House of Correction in Dartmouth.
