The Bay State’s early voting program in Massachusetts that was instituted for the first time this year is proving a success in Fall River. Although Board of Elections Chairperson Liz Camara was hesitant about the idea initially, she has since changed her mind.
“As of today, about two weeks after the program started, we had just over 27 hundred registered voters submit their votes at the polling places set up in the Atrium at Government Center. Those votes will be stored and counted on the Presidential election date set for next Tuesday, November 8th,” she says.
The early voting program ends tomorrow, but via phone today, Camara confirmed the polls have been busy.
To date, the city has about 51 thousand registered voters out of a population of 88 thousand people. Camara is predicting about 70% of those voters will turn out at the polls in person, which will open at 7:00 a.m. and close at 8:00 p.m. next Tuesday.
